The LAMA Lab is Funded!

lamalab

We are thrilled to announce our first funded set of projects by NSERC. Dr. Vanden Bosch der Nederlanden submitted a proposal on the Attentional Speech Bias (ASB) to understand more about what factors about why humans are so good at noticing when the human voice changes in busy sound settings. We've observed the phenomenon in past studies, showing that even 4-month-olds show some evidence of an attentional speech bias -- detecting when the human voice changes better than when other sounds change, like musical instruments or animal voices. In our new studies, we'll be looking at how specific acoustic features grab our attention in busy listening settings, like the school classroom or at a music festival!

Stay tuned for some project announcements so that you and your kids can participate in this research!
