Last week the LAMA lab visited Laurel Trainor's lab at McMaster University to hear two great talks from MPI for Empirical Aesthetics' Ph.D. students Johanna Will and Verena Buren. We had interesting discussions about how to define musicality in children, with a big focus on enthusiasm and motivation toward making music. We also talked about the development of rhythm reproduction skills and how it relates to perception. Lab members were even treated to a tour of MIMM's LIVE lab and got to feel like the space was as big and reverberant as a cathedral and as small and quiet as a sound booth.
Looking forward to our next "field trip" to McMaster for NeuroMusic 2023!
